I have liked the card printing out and passing around idea. I also like the idea of having 50 hot female members all join at once, but I think we all know that by now too

I just couldn't leave that one. Actually, I think the cards may be a reasonable idea. They are reasonably cheap and then when Guys see a Ford around, they can leave one under the wipers or if they're talking to other Ford guys, well, you know.

We must get the word out, summer is coming. Would be great to have a cruise, show or a gtg---get together. We need to do something and soon.

You're fighting an uphill battle for a couple of reasons.
In no way is this meant to brush everyone with the same stroke but from my experience alot of the Ford Truck drivers that I see at car shows and cruise nights are older fella's (and ladies) that have no use for computers. We did a poll in the Ontario chapter last year. It had to do with ages and birthdays. (you may want to try it here) Anyhow it was another hello type session were if you wanted you could give you age or a hint and your birthday. It was fun and once the ball got rolling most people joined in. So I answer the poll and I always figured I was a young buck surrounded by middles agers and upwards.....WRONG. I think 4 guys/gals were older than me and I'm 32. The rest (like 50 respondents) were all 16-30. So handing out flyers at cruise nights is a good idea but so far in our chapter we aren't drawing alot of the older crowd. Perhaps its different out West but out here the young crowd for the most part are running little rice burners.
Next problems is the diverse, mildly populated (but beautiful) country that we live in. Nobody is close to anyone else. We organized two meets last year. From my area where approxomately 150 - 200000 people live in mostly rural locations. One guy went .....ME. They did draw more folks from Toronto (blah... yes those of us who don;t live there hate it as well) and surrounding where there's a big population.

I guess my advice would be to find out from folks who are already on here how they found the place and see if you can build on those tricks. Might be a god topic for a post "Hey how did you get started on FTE". From there maybe you will have a foundation to build on. I'm not saying don't do the cards, I am saying ask a few questions at your next cruise night to see how many of those strangers are using computers. If they do I would say that folks that have a piece of paper in their hands are more likely to look it up.

Good luck,
TFC

Hi truckfarmingcanuck. Uphill battle doesn`t begin to describe it, most nights are a 1 or 2 man show if that in this forum. Can only go up or out at this rate so might as well aim up. As for computers that is another good point I never thought of. A phone number and perhaps a newspaper ad for a meeting could help, need to get the word out some how as there are tons of nice Ford trucks around and afew older ones done up.
The problem of the diverse, mildly populated province is true, there are Sask FTE members miles apart. Sounds like you have tried for meets, I know it`s not easy or maybe even possible but will get it afew more shots. If you have any more thoughts I would like to hear them and thanks for stepping up with advice. Come back any time.

Hmm you have a good point fom. If we did have meetings like once or twice a month, then possibly more people would show up, then we could get them on the computer checking out the site.

I am thinking of running a small ad in the Star Phoenix for our next meeting on the Jan. 21 weekend, I need to figure out what section to put it in. I had some FTE info at the Draggins Easter show and there was no reponse. That plus the spotter `s cards.

Running an ad sounds like a good idea to get some people out. I know I would like to get up there for a meeting sometime and join in on the fun. I have told a few people about the site and I know they have looked, now I just got to get them to join. There are people out there with computors doing searchs for Ford Trucks, when they do a search we just have to make it so FTE comes up first.
