ford engine

i know i should probably be doing this in the "engine swap" section i have access to a mercury sable 3.0 engine. its in my moms car and i know for a fact its alot quicker than my 3.0 ranger. firstly, would this engine even fit? secondly, has anyone ever tried this swap? thirdly, how long did it take?

thanks

1. If you are speaking of the DOHC 3.0L (The Duratec), it will not fit. Period. Cylinder heads are huge in comparison and may be tough to fit in between the fenders....and the electronics are set up differently.

2. If you mean another Vulcan 3.slow, the car is quicker because it is more aerodynamic (it may be lighter, too) and front wheel drive does not have the drivetrain loss that rear wheel drive does--no driveshaft, for example.

Yeah, that would be a difference. What year is the Sable?

You could attempt to cram the DOHC in there, but Alfred's right, fitting would be basically impossible. You're talking major cutting, welding, relocating, building, machining, the works. Kiss PS and A/C goodbye too.
And another Vulcan 3.slow isn't gonna make any difference at all. Sell the sable and get a 302/5.0L
