I am 15 and I am new to the site and I have had this truck for exactly a year now and when I was 11 I also bought a 1948 and 1949 Mercury M-105. I am pretty sure I know the majority of the deal with this truck I have recently been looking for some paint to do some touch ups and I am having trouble finding the proper information to get the same color as the original. If anybody could decode all this for me, especially the paint it would be greatly appreciated.

I also noticed that the engine in this truck has been rebuilt by Ford in Edmonton and I'm not sure if they may have altered the plate on the firewall or not.Thanks again.

Has the spread sheet ever been completed with all the vin's and such? Has the early and late 50's seperation number been found?

Bed : Raised panel
No engine or Tranny when aquired
Firewall # A KC140 47 They punched this sucker so hard it is dented in
Tail Gate : Cursive lettering for ford label - I don't know what year they changed to block letters
I must have missed the color for #47 ... ??

I've seen the date in front of the month letter (E in your case) and behind it. Is there a number in front of the SP in the firewall stamp? If the spacing is as you show, I would agree that the build date was May 2, 1949. Do you know what color your truck was originally?

Maybe someone could please help me out. My dad is 72 and wants to sell his 1964 Ford F100. Can anyone give me some direction as to where to find out the value and where to advertise it for sale besides E-Bay? I will advertise it also on the classifieds here after I learn the value of it. The truck is a 6 cylinder 3 speed with the shifter on the floor. Truck has the original 6 door tool box and the engine was rebuilt with an Eddie Bauer engine. Truck is all original, and has no modifications. My dad says he is to old to restore.

The frame is stamped: 88RY10222. It has on the bell housing: 88RY10222 (Y is stamped backwards, lol) glove box door: Engine No.____ 88RY10222, below that it says 8RC. It has 21C spring hangers. It has a 114" wb. It has overload springs, and 5 lug axles. It didn't come with a box, and running boards. I see no signs of cutting the frame, which I must say the frame is pretty clean. Also, the engine has 8BA on the heads, the pass. side has A12 1 on a rivet tag above it, and the dr. side has only 8BA. The block has A1113 on the back on top. My thoughts are this truck is an anomoly for a '48 F1, but has a 1951 engine replacement. After reading about his F1 being a stake truck, I wonder if mine was too. I would like to know for sure, as this may decide the truck's future and fate....especially when the bed I do have came from the other truck, which I may just go ahead and do instead. Any thoughts?

Also on the firewall, the little tag has TC stamped in the upper right corner. It no doubt says TC and not KC. Perhaps TC stood for twin cities, but not sure. With everything else on this truck a bit different, anything is possible, I guess. No other markings were found. It does not have a wiper hole for the passenger side, but my other 1948 cab does with a chrome cover/cap.

Yours is not the first one that I have come across like this. I think that Chrisopher2 (also in MN and perhaps a Twin Cities truck) Has a 49 F3 where a C was stamped over with a Y.
I have a couple of other examples of F1's with F2 or F3 Vins. Also 48's.
I actually found VIN one here in Houston where there were two number numbers either transposed or they were off by 10 when comparing the VIV plate to the frame stamping. This seemed to have slipped by sometimes back then.
I'd say that if it walks like an F1 and quacks like an F1, it's probably an F1. I find the TC designation a bit unique. I haven't come across that before.
As far as I know, 48 was the first year they were coding VIN numbers. Yours is a very low VIN number (and thus a veery early 48) and perhpas from the first batch that they ran in St. Paul Could be that early on they used the TC desingation and soon into went to the SP designation for the plant. Interesting truck. Too bad the information on this stuff from Ford is lost. It would be interesting to know what was really going on back then.

took some pics of my 49 F6...er, uh, my uncle inlaws. He said I could still have it, along with the 49 F8 dump. I didn't get the F8 info, but here's the F62H TH238923 it's a flathead 8, w/hoses mounted to the front of the heads, not the middle. It's also a floor shift. No bed.
