Front End Problems

On my 2000 PSD 4wd, noticed when turning into work really sharp that I was getting a little jerk. SO after work when everbody left, I went out and went in circles left and right 2wd and was getting this jerk, when I went into 4wd, went in circles left and right, and it seemed like the front wheels were not turning, that the rear wheels where pushing it thru the turn. I then drove straight and it seems that the front was turning, then I did a suble turn and once again it seemed like the front locked up. I am wondering are the U-joins bad, I grabbed them and did not get any slop, or are the front hub bearings bad?? It will lock and unlock out of 4wd. Thanks for the help, this site has been awesome for answering any questions I've had!!!

From my under standing you should never operate 4x4 on dry pavement. Also I would be very careful when turning sharp in 4x4 specially on dry pavement things do break.

It's very true to not use 4WD on pavement. If you want to check your hub bearings, remove the front tires, remove the brake calipers and turn the hubs. If they turn smooth and have no play sideways, I'd say they're good. I notice the same notch when doing slow sharp turns and I checked my hubs, they seem good. Just probably an anomoly with 4WD's.
