Bell housing pattern

Can anyone tell me if the V10 shares the same pattern as the 4.6 or 5.4. I want to install a V10 in my 48 F1 and would like to use a 5 or 6 speed trans. I don't want to use the truck trans. Also what flywheel and clutch combo can be used behind this engine? Thanks in advance

well you are stuck there. no car with a modular engine had a manual transmission. so you are going to have to use a 6 speed out of a truck or the torqueshift.

What about all those Mustangs running around. Alot of theme have 4.6 engines and I know that 5.4"s have been swaped into them with both 5 and 6 speed trans.

The V-10 and the 4.6/5.4 do use the same bellhousing bolt pattern.

If you can look online for someone who sells the T56 with the modular engien bolt pattern, you can have your 6-speed.

Will that tranny be geared worth a flip for a v10? Heck no. I'd hate to see the mileage for a v10 truck with a 2.66 or 2.97 FIRST gear!

The truck tranny will hold the power that the car (Mustang) tranny can not and was not built for.

well mustangs only have a manual option with the v-6 no thte v-8. the mustang tranny mentioned above will not last long behind a v10. one more thing i think the the computer has a input for the tranny so that would mean you need a electronic transmission.

According to who? Ford's website says the new mustang is availabe with a manual transmission behind the V8, and I know for a fact that previous generation mustangs were available with manual transmissions as well.

Thanks

Thanks guys. I now have the info I needed. I contacted Keisler Engineering and they have a complete kit. 5 or 6 speed. The truck I am putting this in only looks like a truck. 1948 Ford F1 p/u IRS and Late T-Bird IRS the whole car should weigh about the same as a early Mustang. High winding V10 with a overdrive 5/6 sounds like fun to me.

says ford. right on the website. v-6 is the only engine avaible with a manual tranny the 4.6 is auto only. same goes fro the previous generation using the modular engines.

I must be looking at a different ford website. www.fordvehicles.com Both under the build your own, and the specs page of the 06 Mustang show the T5 manual transmission available with the V6, and the T3650 manual transmission available with the V8. Both manuals come as standard equipment, the automatic is optional for both. I also see several 5spd V8 powered 05 Mustangs on Ebay, so unless these are all custom conversions, I think you are misinformed.

This page shows what I am looking at

Sword1812004,

This is an interesting project. Please share more info. What year v10? Any engine mods? Engine fit problems? Which tranny T56, TKO600, other? Gears and upgrades to that T-bird rear end (8.8?) to handle the extra torque?

I'm curious how this works out because I've got a '70 F100 that I'm cipherin' on. I debate 460 vs v10.

Don't mean to bust anyones stones but all modular mustangs have been available with a 5spd manual transmission. In 1996 the modular 4.6 came into use with a manual standard and a automatic available for the V6 and V8 GT. The cobra is only available with the 5 speed manual. In 2000 ford introduced the second CobraR which came with a 5.4L engine and was only available with the 6 speed manual. In 2003 ford introduced the 4.6L supercharged cobra with a 6 Speed manual and also in 2004. The mustang has always had a manual available but never an auto in the cobra. Even the 2005 is available with a manual with a v8 or v6. I own 3 mustangs and have worked on countless stangs and own a 93 cobra. As for the other guy let me know how that v10 SWAP goes.

V10 MUSTANG MAYBE???????????
