Need some help...have bought a 96 f-250 powerstroke, 6.0, 5-speed manual, 160K miles. When traveling interstate at 75-80 mph, am reving at 26-2700 rpm. What gear sets will bring the rpms down to around 2-2200 rpm? have 4/11 now (i think). Any help is appreciated! Ben

Ben, Welcome to the FTE- You should probably post your question in the 7.3 Diesel Forum. Good Luck

Benjo, 3.73 will put you right there. Yeah, your pushing your truck if you hold that for a long time. It will take it, but forget about fuel mileage. And unless someone swapped engines, you have 7.3, not a 6.0. Hope that helps, and welcom to FTE.

Thanks RubberDuck, I was guessing the 3:73, but needed some confirmation. Also, your right, 7.3, my bad. Thanks again.

my 2000 with a 7.3, and auto us just about perfect with the 3.73s I think you would like that setup. Really good comprimise between take off power, and cruising ability.
