Where is the block casting part # located at on the block of a 360-390 FE ?

I looked at the FAQ here and searched the archive and couldn't find this information either. I found one place that says it's behind the starter motor. I found the numbers

64 and 352 on the front of the block behind where the power steering pump would be if I had one.

They are on the right side of the block. Early blocks 58-65 had them towards the front. I think it was 66 and later they moved back closer to the starter. Some blocks just have no casting number in both passanger and service applications. But all blocks have a date code to ID the year. Also you will find several different bore blocks will use the same casting number making them "generic" more or less. You'll need to measure the cyl bore to assist in the identifcation process. G.
