Decoding

I just bought a 79 F-250 4x4.
I got most of the Vin plate decoded, here is how it reads:

133 D F265 DT4 K C79

I was wondering what transmission the K indicated and what front axle the 9 meant?

Transmission K actually just means Automatic.

I would guess a C6, because that is what is on mine.

C7 is your Rear axle meaning 3.54:1 Dana Limited Slip
9 is your front axle which means = 3800lb Dana 60.Naturally either the same ratio or very close (3.54 or 3.55)

I bet you have *Armstrong Steering*(non-power) too.

Sure, but it's most helpful only for 1978. Plus, it's not complete.

the one i posted is for 70 thru 80 broncos and trucks and i have had good results with it so far.

Thank you all. I got most of the plate decoded from Mil1ion site but couldn't find the front axle of "k" transmission code.

I told you both already.

K is for automatic (Ford's Explanation also)
Mine is a C6 with a K code on the plate.

The TWO axle codes are put together.
C79
You just have to know how to read it.
