Scratch fix?

While I had my tailgate off to coat the inside with bedliner my mom had the brilliant idea to slide it around and now it has a lot of scratches in the paint. I have tried scratch remover, but it didn't get rid of them. If I take some touch up paint and coat the scrathces and then wipe off the excess will this hide the scratches and not mess up the rest of the paint? This is a daily driver and isnt affraid of work, but I also take pride in it and want it to look good, so any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

If the scratches are not too deep you can sand them out with 1500 to 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Then use your scratch remover or polishing compound and a buffer to bring back the gloss. If they are too deep, the method you mentioned might make it look better but will probably always be noticeable. Good luck.
