Front Shock Replacement

Thinking about replacing the shocks on my 2000 Ranger XLT (3.0L V6). I'm at my computer at work and not under my truck, so this may be a dumb question, but it is possible to replace the front shocks without removing the coil springs?

Any thoughts on which shocks to buy? Monroe brand has been suggested to me. Should I go for the expensive Sensa-Tracs or the cheaper Monroe-Matics?

Any suggestions or advice is appreciated.

On my 2wd it's two bolts at the bottom, one on top, drop the shock out the bottom. I have heard good things about Bilstien.

Yeah you won't have to mess with the coil springs... you can even do it without jacking up the truck, unless it's lowered or something, although clearance to the top nut may be a bit limited.
