I have a 2005 250SD. It has the factory remote start installed in it. I am trying to install the stick on keypad but having no luck. I tried the programing method of key-on 8 times and that did nothing at all. I read the manual that came with the remote start and that said to enter programming you had to turn keyon and press programming button for 15 seconds and horn chirps would follow. That worked fine and I was able to reprogram the remotes I had plus one more but when I tried to do the keypad I had no luck. I tried the method that came with the keypad and that was to enter the factory set code, that had no effect. I tried the method in the truck manual of pressing the 7-8 and 9-0 keys together and that had no effect. Does anyone possibly have the answer to this issue?
Chris
To create your own personal entry code:
1) Enter the permanite factory entry code
2) Within 5 seconds press the 1/2 key
3) Enter your own 5 digit code, each number must be entered within 5 seconds of each other.
4) The doors will again lock then unlock to confirm your keycode has been programed into the module.
When I did mine you hvae to make sure the doors stay shut. If you open one during programing all is lost. So you need to have the window rolled dow. Then I believe you must also start with the doors locked. I know I tried 4-5 times. Then I just slowed down and read each step as I did it. You my try have someone read the steps to you. Then maunual did work on my 04. I think you are right about cycling the key then pressing 7-8 and 9-0 at the same time. I think after that the doors locked again to confirm it was done.
As a follow up to my original post and after a visit back to my local dealer it appears that you cannot use the ford stick on keypad with the ford add on remote start as they are two different manufacturers and two different frequencies. Pass this on to anyone you hear asking about it, as both guys at the parts counter had no idea that this was the case. The keypad only works with the original keyless entry from the factory.
I had the same problem, my Loaded F250 was ordered without the advanced security group- keyless entry. Unless you change part of the computer at about $800, the stick on keypad is useless. My dealer added an aftermarket keyless to make me happy(sort of)- I bought the truck off the lot so I had to agree because any keyless entry beats no keyless entry!!
