Dude, just make sure your PCV is working, don't be so sure on the head, yet, do a compression test first, See if it holds compression before you spend the money on the head.

I guess i'm just lucky, my PCV wasn't even there when i bought the truck, was stolen to put on another truck sometime during it's 10 year hibernation. When i looked at it before i bought it it had NO i repeat NO blow by.

How is that possible with no PCV at the time? must just be in good shape. 109K on it

I'll give you 500 to top the other guys for that truck, just kidding, you stole that truck man.

Nope, didn't miss a 0. LOL. I couldn't believe it either. I actually loaded up my bike and a bunch of other ****, and drove it all the way down to Yosemite and back this weekend. I was rather skeptical that it would make the trip but it did just fine. I can't wait to get the damn thing running good. I do have another question though...... I have two 302's in my garage. One of them is going in my boat, I was thinking about maybe throwing the other one in the truck. Are the motor mounts the same as the 300? If so, do you think it'd be worth the hassle putting the bigger motor in, or just stick with the 300 and make it pur?

The 300 has more umph than the 302 does. Been there, done that.

You have to change the motor mount to frame pieces.

Yeah stick with the 300 the extra 2 cubic inches gets you about 10 more horse power but the six gives you about 20 more foot pounds of grunt, I mean torque and it does that with a one barrel carb.
