Tornado????

Has anybody on here used a tornado on a 460 or any old school v8 for that matter? I dont know how a tornado could work but if it gave me one more mpg as much as i drive it would pay off. Im getting like 8-9mpg which aint very good and im gettin raped harder everyday , but theres no replacement for displacement.

the short answer is no. it has been talked about alot it was just a very expensive rip off kinda like the 4 prong spark plugs companies got sued for a few years back.to get more mpg's do a tune up when was the last time you did one i get about 14 in my 428

There are a lot of ways of increasing mileage, and the tornado fans and electric superchargers aren't one of them.

If a manual, shift early. There is no need to constantly run 3500 RPMs in 3rd gear unless your truck is loaded or you're playing. It's fun to play, but with a vehicle like ours you do suffer at the pump.

overdrive - if you don't have a tranny with an overdrive - consider swapping one in. Maybe an overdrive unit that goes on the back of the transmission. THey are expensive, but they are a true bolt-on - no swapping of tranny's, computers, wiring, etc. Bolt it on and reduce your highway RPMs by about 20%. On a BBF, that would be about right.

Change your gearing... if you have 4.11 gears, and drive unloaded most of the time, you might consider 3.55's. While that doesn't sound like a lot, thats good for at least 1-2 mpg right there.

If you have a carb, consider EFI. A well tuned EFI system generally is more precise in fuel metering than a carbeurator. And there are guys who can tune carbs to amazing levels... getting power and mileage... I'm not one of them, so I prefer EFI.

12-14 on the highway for a regular cab longbed pickup with a 460 should be doable. I can bounce in that range with my F350 crewcab, with a 351W, which requires a lot of revving to make useful power.

A extensive test was done on those tornado junkamathings and
found that they did not do a thing, waste of money.
