overdrive problem!

overdrive problem!
i have a 98 F-150 4x4.just bought it.drove it for about 450 miles so far.just yesterday,once it went into overdrive it would slip out of gear.i turn off the overdrive button and it would run fine.i checked the fluid and needed a quart.put it in and it didnt do it again,but only drove it for about a mile after fill.today on my way to work it did the same thing.also on the way home today.all the other gears work just fine.anyone had this problem before or know a solution?

thanks for replying bshort.my od light did flash before it slipped out 2 days ago ,but it only flashed for approx. 3 min. and its never flashed again.does it have to be flashing to be able to find a prob. while reading the codes?
