Point set
I have a 86 F150 302 , I have a couple of books for repair and parts as I was doing a tune-up I was replacing the coil I notice a my truck has a point set on it, at first I did not think twice about it, my repair books do not show anything on this part. One of the part book shows it but not for that year (86 EFI) do anyone have some info. on this?

Looks like someone has replaced the electronic ignition system with an older one. Hmmm.
Did you get the coil for an engine with the electronic ignition? Does it even work?
I dont think the EFI systems ever used points.
Good luck to you. Is it not fun trying to figure out what previous owners have done?

Some body changed it. I did the same thing for my 81 cop car when it started to quit. Went right through the shop manual for trouble shooting,finally pinpointed it to a $600 brain box (according to Ford)... the heck with that.... dist out of a 72 F100 and a Chevy ballast resistor worked fine.

Thanks guys for the reply But a friend of mine told me its the condenser something to keep that humming sound out when playing the radio. I went and look at it again, it's about two inches long silver, its attached to the compressor bracket, there a wire that runs from it to the coil.
