linkage issues

hello! i need to get a better linkage hooked up and i wanted to know what worked well for others. i had a 2bbl 360 w/ 2100 carb. it had a 1" spacer w/ a water passage. anyway now it has a edselbrock "performer 390" intake and a 1406 carb. the old linkage was the kind with two threaded rods that u can screw the little pins back and forth and then use little clips to keep them in place. the mount screws rite in the intake just fine. anyway i adjusted it all it will go and it doesnt quite work rite. its driveable, but can't open up the last %20 or so. it can't really be adjusted or modified any further. whats the best (cheapest and reliable) thing to do? i thought of either looking for a linkage in a junkyard off a 72 truck that came with a 4bbl fe or getting some sorts of pieces at a hardware store that could screw to the mount and tinkering on it to no end until i came up with something that worked. whats worked for yall ? appreciate any ideas

Are you talking about the throttle linkage rods? If so do you have the Ford adapter for the carb? I had that setup and my stock linkage worked fine once I got the Ford adapter for the carb. In fact I ran the perfromer RPM a 1" spacer and the carb without it and had the same problem. Let me know if you have it. I still have my old one since I went to the Holley. Save your money for something else. I'll send mine for free if you really need it.

On both my trucks I ran a simple threaded rod from pedal to carb. Any hardware store will have the rods and rod ends. Make it up to proper length so you have full throttle when pedal is at floor and you're done.
