Need help with decoding a Y-block engine

I need help decoding an engine again. This time it's for a friend.

This is what he got off the block: Eco-6059-8(or a B I can't tell).

This engine was inside a '52 F6 and from what I remember, I don't think that that was the original/stock motor for the year and model.

Any ideas? Any value or is it junk? It is in good condition.

Thanks, Ilya

The best place to decode is to look it up at www.ford-y-block.com

Ilya,

Ford used the base part number of 6059 for the front timing cover casting. Your friend must have gotten that number off the timing cover, not the block.

As 57_ford said, take a look at John Mummert's Y-block site to find out where the block casting numbers are located - usually near the distributor or just below the head deck. The number should have 6015 as the base part number with a prefix and a suffix.
