My '94 was ordered with the "no decal option". I don't even have an oval on the tailgate. It is just plain metal and the truck is an XLT. Based on the trim level the tailgates had several treatments within the same model year.

I ordered a stainless steel trim panel for my 92 XLT F150 and I got a panel with the blue Ford oval on the left hand side and no FORD lettering on the right hand side--like all 92-96 F150s XLTs usually have.

My replacement stainless panel for the tailgate looks just like a Bronco XLT stainless panel--wiithout the hole on the left hand side for the tailgate lock that is on the Broncos. The bodyshop said that Ford substituted this panel for the normal XLT panel with the FORD lettering on the right handside.

Has anyone seen a F150 pickup with the stainless panel with a blue oval ford symbol on the left and no FORD lettering on the right handside?

Actually, phoneman91, that's what Chris' tailgate looks like. Never thought about it as I have never paid all that much attention to the trim levels. The Blue oval is about 3 3/4" to 4" wide?

Yes--the blue oval is about 4 inches long. I have never seen a Ford Pickup with this type of stainless trim panel. It looks good--I just dont understand why Ford would substitute. It is the Bronco panel without the key hole on the left hand side.

Who is Chris? And is his panel a replacement panel? What year truck is Chris'?

Look at my gallery pictures of my truck--one picture shows the replacement tailgate panel.

Chris is one of the yard guys in the receiving department. He drives a Black '95 F150 4.9L E4OD, 4x2 mint condition truck. I could not get to your gallery from this page. Said user has not created gallery.

Oops--go to phoneman71's gallery--my other handle--and you can see my truck.

Is Chris's trim panel original? Or is it a replacement?

150blue:

I bought a OEM Ford stainless steel panel and it cost 300.00 dollars. Very expensive. But I wanted to keep the XLT package and appearance. The truck is so nice and I just wanted the panel. If I had it to do over again--I wouldnt purchase it probably. But it does look nice. But it isnt original in design--though it is OEM.

Now is the time to purchase any body part for these trucks--Ford is stopping the manufacturing and stocking of many body and trim parts. these trucks are all 9 years old and older and Ford usually doesnt stock trim and body much belong 9 years.

But surprisingly--the OEM front grill I bought was made in March 04!!.

I see a 1993 F-150 that way every time I approach my truck from the rear. That is the way it was new and it is as beautiful today as it was the day I picked it up. Not bad for 157K miles but it has been a lot of washing, polishing and keeping far away from parking lots.
