Transmission processor.
Hi, I have a 90 E350, 7.3 with an E40D. It was rebuilt about a month ago. It had trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd today. I took it back and they said there was a code about the processor. There was a recall in 92 on the procesor but I just got the van last year and don't know the history. What does the processor do and where can I find it? Also is there a good synthetic fluid for this trans? Thanks for any help.

The processor controls the transmission. It makes it shift and controls the pressure.
I can't remember where they hid it on a '90. Try following the wiring harness from the trans back to the processor.
Mobil 1 synthetic ATF is the best synthetic for that trans.
