Question Chrome repairs

Can anybody give me an ideal on were i can get chrome repairs done, the repairs i need done are on the chrome that snaps over the drip rail of my cab. I purchased this trim along with the inside cab chrome trim so i could have that installation option, but the shipper packaged it in a really bad way and it came to my door damaged, and i already tried to contact him but he won't respond. Even though i didn't pay alot for it, it still makes me because to my knowedge you can buy this new anymore.

Thanks Ernie

fever, Is it chrome, or is it stainless? I believe that it is stainless. However, which ever it is, a chrome shop should be able to repair and refinish it for you. Jag

I don't know how you are set for equipment, but when I restored my Fairlane, 12 years ago, it had some dented up stainless trim. I followed some simple directions out of a book and hammered it back into shape. After that I used a buffing wheel from Harbor Freight to polish it back to like-new condition. I used my radial arm saw to mount the buffing wheel onto. So if I can do it, most anybody can. Jag

I did manage to get some of it into decent shape but unfortunetly there is a couple really sharp bends that caused the trim to split at the edges, any ideal on how much this may cost?

If it split, then the only way I can see to salvage it is to have the split welded. My local welder starts his fees at $40 and heads up from there. Since it's a small job then maybe you can get it for that or less depending on the resources in your area. Jag

Stainless trim will need a good experienced welder with a TIG. After it's welded you'll have to smooth out the weld and repolish it. Stainless is not the easiest metal to smooth and polish, best left for a pro on something that shape and importance.
