Someone help?

I have a 1999 F350 diesel 4X4, it has 166,000 miles.

It has been a good truck and not a lot of maintenance, until now.

Last week the water pump went out, no big deal, I replaced it.

The next day I fould a leak in the heater core, I replaced that too.

The next morning I started to work, got about 5 miles down the road and all hell broke lose, the battery died and sone there after everything else.

I was going to replace the alternator but put the battery charger on it all day, that night when I got home, everything seemed to be back to normal after the battery was charged.

Next morning the heater would not work, but I went on to work, at about 5 miles, the heater stated working but then the transmission disengaged and there I was. I put it in 4WD to see if I lost the drive shaft, but nothing. then I noticed that 4x4 light just stoped working.

Sounds like a computer problem to me, but could a computer cause all of these latest ills?

Anyone know?

Thanks a bnunch

I agree Wagon Maker, the only thing I could think it would be is a computer or wiring harness shorted.

help

a bad charging system could be causing your problems. if the main computer does not get proper voltage it will go into brain freeze. a short in a wire could be pulling down your battery after the 5 mile trip the battery is dead. keep me posted i hope this helps!!
