no there is not black boot on either end of the drive shaft. i saw the diagrams in the tech forum on what it supposed to look like, would be kind of hard to miss if i did have it, but it is not there at all.... i cant get pics, dont feel like getting wet in the rain. if you can get a pic to me that would be great..

i just recently changed out the filter and oil in the pan. i saw a few little black boxes in there, i am guessing those are the servos. would it be obvious if i blew a gasket in there or would i have to search and take some things off?? when i had it off i couldnt really see anything out of the ordinary, then again that was the first time i ever changed a tranny pan gasket. And about the slipyoke. if the slipyoke is in the end of the tranny, wont the seal get damaged when you take the axle out and slide it in. it has to be a tight seal to keep the grease in there.

the servos are round. it was obvious in my situation. it may not be in yours. i saw it, knew it wasn't right, but had no drivability issues, so when i started having problems, i knew what it was. the tranny would sometimes freewheel for a few seconds after i shifted into drive, followed by a thud. this was few and far between. what i really noticed was the slight slipping aroun 45mph. when it shifted to pass, the truck would accelerate, but maintain 3k rpm for a short time. since it has been fixed, no more slip.

ok., another question, is it hard to change out the valve body gasket, or should i take it to a real mechanic, and about how much dose the gasket cost, and how much dose the whole valve body cost? one last thing, i have an 02 edge. i paid for the extended warranty, but i put on 32 inch mud terrain tires. how good are my chances that the dealer would honor my warranty with non stock oversized tires?
