Angled shocks

Is there a benefit to having the shocks angled in toward the center of the bed as apposed to almost straight up and down?

If you are using your truck offroad and need fairly extreme articulation it will allow your axle to move a little farther without maxing or bottoming out. For regular driving there's no advantage.

No advantage except that a shock with shorter travel can be used when it's angled rather than vertical. Dodge used to like to angle their rear shocks in at the top, attatching them to the crossmember rather than the framerails. They worked fine in the '78 Dodge I had. Chevy angles their rear shocks in opposite directions, one to the front, one to the rear. This supposedly helps control axle wrap from driveline torque. Seemed to work fine on all my Chevys. I notice the new Ford trucks have their rear shocks angled in the Chevy fashion now.
