Exclamation BFG or Nitto 35s with leveling kit only?

I'm strongly considering going with BFG AT 315/70/17 tires with a 2.5'' Daystar kit. Anyone out there running BFG or Nitto 35's with the Daystar kit, and if so, did you get any rub? I get conflicting answers on whether or not that set up will work. If you have that set up, I'd love to see pictures and hear about your experience. Thanks a bunch.

I was thinking the same thing. From what I have read, if you stay with stock wheels there is no rubbing. Aftermarket wheels that are wider and different backspacing are the problem. Dealers in the Little Rock area are putting on daystar lifts and running BFG 35x12.50x17 MT's or 18's on a regular basis. One dealer has on with a 6" lift and 37x12.50x18's on stock wheels. Information says these tires need to be on at least 8.5" wide wheels. Dealers don't care so it must be ok...

I have the BFG AT 315/70/17 tires on stock 17's with no lift and they do not rub. I took the rear blocks out and used a longer shackle to get the rear level.
Unless you just like the truck taller I wouldn't bother lifting it.

ij........that is good to know. I suspect going with 18x9 wheels won't make much of a difference than stock, it is up to the back spacing. The wheels I am looking at have a 5" backspace. I have searched the gallery and only seen stock wheels on the BFG 35s. If anyone has done some custom wheels with 35s, I'd sure like to see a picture.

35s with 9 inch wheels with 5 inches of backspacing without or with the leveling kit would rub. just from waht I have read, I have read that 33s and 9 inch wheels with 5 inches of backspacing will rub a bit

I have Eagle Series 178 18x9 wheels with Nitto 325/65R18's and get a bit of rubbing when fully cranked. Before my Body Lift I ran 325/60R18's with just the daystar 2.5 and still had the rub. The Nitto's are 13" wide the BFG's are 12.50" wide. When the Nitto's wear out BFG's will be the next tires on Blkbuty. I may opt for the Open Country M/T from Toyo which are 12.5" wide as well.

stock wheels can't fit anby larger tires since they are only 7 inches wide right? Or do the 17's have more options? I have 18's.

My 17's are 7.5 inches wide and they work just fine with the 315's.
I run 36 psi front 32 psi rear. Iv'e run this size tire & wheel combo for years on numerous trucks with no problems.

Hovy: I have just alittle rub and the tire shop actually shaved off the areas for me while in the shop.

CA: I love the lift(s) and the Nitto's - going to TOYO or BFG for a more meatier look. The Nitto's ride great.

CARN: The 18" stock rims are 7.5" and MOST tires 33" 35" tires recommend 9" wheels BuTTTT! My buddy runs 33's on his stock Fx4 rims and it looks good!

blkbuty, what is the risk of running them on 7.5 inch wheels? ARe they more likely to pop off the rims in an off road situation? Do you have pics of your buddies tires? what kind are they?
