Hi everyone. I need some help with getting an engine block heater for my 1994 Ford Ranger. Due to the fact that I just got a new mustang the stang is in the garage and the truck will be outside now. For the time being its ok, but living in the northeast, for this upcoming winter I would like to get an engine block heater for the truck so I don't have trouble starting. Could someone let me know around what they go for and whats the best place to buy one and have it installed? Thanks for all your help.
Call your local Ford dealer and ask for a price. The factory/dealer block heaters are not that hard to install depending on the engine you have. You drain the anti-freeze and pull out the proper freeze plug. Then the hlock heater goes into the freeze plug hole and is sealed with a rubber o-ring as it get tightened down. There is an elec. cord from the heater to tie off under the hood or stick through the grille. On my 93, I kept the 110V plug inside the bumper slot in the center.
