Ok, here's the deal. I'm looking to increase my towing cpacity to about 8000lbs. My Truck is a 2001 Ranger 4x4 XLT 4.0L Supercab 5spd auto. It currently has a capacity of 5600lbs. I'd like to increase that to about 8000lbs. I'm not looking to add HP to the truck as it currently has 207hp, and that's fine. It has a 4.10 rear, what I'm wondering is what would be a good change in the rear to acheive near to this new capacity.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You need to consider buying an F-250. I would never pull 8,000 pounds with a 3,500 pound tow vehicle, unless it was flat ground, less than 10 miles and back roads. Visit your Ford dealer and pick up a copy of their RV and Towing brochure.
