od light flashing
hey i am a thousand miles from home my my od light started flashin...disconected the batteries and it stopped....i was driving through some heavy slush and water...did something get wet? and cause some errors cuase my tourque converter locked up in reverse and wouls almost stall...my mileage dropped like a stone...seems ok now just got to get home without that happening again...any info would be appreciated...i tried to find a post that taliked about the od light flashing but i am on dial up here and the net is very slow...thanks in advance

I had similar problem. Flashing OD light hard shifts. I reset the codes by removing the pcm fuse. All seemed fine. Light came back on. Bought an evolution tuner, got code P1728 TCC Trans slip error - converter clutch failed Solenoid failure or mechanical failure. Oh crap. Reset codes again, no more light. No more harsh shifts. All of a sudden it wouldn't shift higher than second. Read codes, none stored. Took to tranny shop, new transmission.
Get those codes read before you attempt the thousand miles home. Fix the problem while it is still hopefully cheap. You dont want to have to shell out $3k+ for a new tranny if it is something easy now.

well i must have somebody lookin out for me cause i am home now and the tranny was same old great thing its always been to me...mileage was great cause i went a little slower...i think it was definitly a short caused by slush and when i mean slush...about a foot of it ...you know whats its like when you pass someone and you feel like your waterskiing behind a boat!...well thats what i was doin over and over till the light came on...i smelled the fluid and its was bright red...will have the codes checked though when i have a chance...what year is your truck?
