help programming keyless entry remotes

I have a '99 F150. When I bought the truck it came with two working keyless entry remotes. I have since managed to break one and lose one. I bought a new remote and have been trying for weeks to get my truck to enter the programming mode. I know that it has the keyless entry module. I just cannot for the life of me get it to enter programming mode using the off/on 8 times, 5 times, or any other amount of times. Everything else (killswitch overide, automatic arming) works just as before. Could someone please put me out of my remote programming misery and tell me if you know of any other way to enter programming mode or why mine won't.

That is proper way of programming. 8 times in your truck I think. Now make sure you have the proper remotes. Ford used several different freq. so make sure you have the correct ones.
