Does anyone know what the changes were made to a 1987 351 windsor over the earlier years? Having a hard time finding a rebuild kit for this particular engine,thanks for any help you guys may have.

 

I don't know this for sure, but I'd assume that it is the same as an 86 since the 351 didn't go EFI until '88.

 

Are you just looking at the listings in catalogues, or are you still having difficulty even after talking with rep.s from companies? Ford's are often quite varied, especially compared to Chevy & GMC, therefore is always easiest to list the chevy stuff and then say," call for other applications".The internal stuff on a 351 w didn't change. So a rebuild kit for the 86 would work. It's possible that perhaps in mid-late 87 they switched to EFI, and that's why you're having trouble finding a listing. Pistons, rings, bearings, and all major gaskets are interchangable though FOR SURE!

 

Thx,jamie,I just called summit to order the overhaul kit and they told me what the deal is.Ford had a split year run in 87 .The early 351's were carbed and standard flat tappet cams,the later ones came out with efi and roller cams,thanks again for your input.
