I am here in Wichita and am looking a an 01 X Limited with the V10 and I like the way it is optioned out, but I have a concern that it has 78K miles. I think the price is right at 19K, but am wondering what may need to be done in the near future (next 30k miles).
I am going to be using it to tow my BBQ rig as well as my boat, and I am considering Supercharging it with exhaust and chip. I am also looking at a 3" levelling lift, and 285/75 wheels and tires.
Thanks for any and all advice and help, and if this works out, I guess I will be a new mwmber of FTE
Sounds like a good deal to me. Depending on the condition I doubt you'll have much work to do other than routine care. You might take it to your mechanic and have them look it over.
Well thats not a bad buy at all. I have a 02 SD witht he v-10 and i love the power it puts out without a chip. I do have dual exhaust and it sounds good. I also have 73,000 miles on it and have had to do nothing!!
If they route the exhaust the same way they do our F-450's they have a REALLY tight bend on the pass. bank of the Y-pipe, we replaced ours with a performance unit after it ot crunched and it made a world of difference. We really havent had any real big problems with ours and they are rolling up on 150,000 miles. We did have an injector lock open and hydro-lock a cylinder witch broke a rod and sent it through the side of the block. But that was kinda like a freak thing that rarely happens. I can tell you a used one with about 50,000 miles will cost you about $6,000.
If it was taken care of and serviced then the 78K should be no problem. These will run many more miles then that without any problem if taken care of. See if they can show you any service details and also have them get you a carfax report.
Welcome to the site and hope the info is what you need.
I traded in my '99 Superduty V10 at 151K and No problems. You should be fine if it was taken care of. I think $19k is actually a tad high, but that's just me. I had the Banks kit on mine (Headers, full exhaust w/ no cat, chip, and Transcommand) It made a Huge difference.
Thanks for all the replies. I think 19K is a bit high a swell, but it is 4k below book, and the biggets problem is that there are few other to shop against, that is whay I am taking my time to make this decision.
Anyone here have any experience supercharging one of these motors, or is it worth it for the $$$$, or is exhaust chip intake a better route for the sam eif not less $$$$
