Audio System

Hey, I'm thinkin about putting a sytem into my truck ('00 F-250 5.4l extended cab) and i was just wondering what everyone else has done and what sounds good. I dont really want a loud loud bass i just want a real good overall sound quality.Since my truck doesnt have a cd player i want to upgrade from factory or maybe just put a newer model oem cd player from a newer truck. But still i might put in a whole system. I dont want to spend a ton of $$$ i just want to do it right if im gonna do it. Thanks in advance. Couch

You should decide what your budget is and then start planing from there. You can spend alot of money and not get a good system and vice versa. I would start with the head unit and take it from there. Decide if you want an amp (or amps) and what size sub (subs) you want.

Audio System

I am presently replaceing a good amount of my currently installed system due to being quite dissapointed with the original upgrade I made when I purchased my 03 F350 SCC. I originall installed a Sony in dash cd/mps flip out player, powered by a JL 450/4 which powered my front MB Quart Q series, and a Directed 5 channel 1000 watt which powered a set of MB Quart reference and a JL 10 sub in my console. My whole point being, not to go on about my system, but to stress the point to do it right the first time or you will inevitably feel dis-satisfied. That was a lot of work and money which in the end was not worth it. I am now going to a dedicated MB Quart mono 1000 watt amp for the MB Quart 10 Titanium sub, a dedicated 4 channel Q Series 1000 watt amp, for my front MB Quarts, and am going to keep the JL 450/4 dedicated to the rears. I spend 6-8 hours a day in my truck, and listen to Linkin Park, and then Josh groban, there is nothing more torturous than an underperforming system. Do it right the first time or don't do it at all. Consider a Sirius satellite equipped radio also, very nice upgrade.

Thumbs up

I installed the first system in my f250 and was not happy at all. I replaced 90% of it with what I wanted to buy the first time by went with less expensive equipment the first time. I will say I just installed kicker rs5 components in Q- logic kick panel pods ang kicker mm8b *8" midbass in the front doors which made the front sound stage almost sound like surround sound. I also have kicker kx57.2 components in rear corners with 2 kicker L5 10" subs behind the rear seat. I power these with 2 kicker amps 04kx650 4 ch and 04kx850 2 ch .I have a kicker kx3 crossoveralso. My head unit , graphic EQ , 10 disc cd change are all kenwood. I paid big $ for all the wiring product (stinger) but it really paid off sound is clear!

It mainly depends on your budget that you have, I would recommend the Infinity's for door speakers, they have a pretty decent sound, and aren't too expensive.
