Trailer Brake Controller

What is required to install a brake controller in my 2002 Excursion? I have read that they come prewired, but for what brand of controller?
Are there any that will mount in the dash like the new SD trucks?
Regards,
Paul

Here's what I did and I would guess that your dash is the same as my 02 PU. My controller is small enough that it fits in the little cubby hole that is below and to the left of the radio. Drilled a small hole in the back end of the cubby hole, big enough to get the pig tail of wires through and then hooked them to the controller. Velcrowed the controller to the top of the cubby hole and then if you remove the big fuse panel door, you'll be able to see the gray plug that is prewired and that is just behind the back end of the cubby hole. Connect the pig tail to it and you should be ready to go.

My controller is a small one that I got at a auto parts store. Hope this helps.

I absolutly love my TEKONSHA - PRODIGY (Part No. 90185) for my 02 F350 it was around $150.00. It comes with a mounting caddie and a pig tail with good instructions for Wiring to your truck, the caddie and an additional pigtail will let you move it from vehicle to vehicle if you have two tow rigs. There is a boost button that allows for low speed driving to higher speeds.
