frame differences

frame differences

what are the differences between the frame of a 1955 and a 1953?? ...suspension parts?

I'm pretty sure there is no difference, in fact allmost possitive.

in which case, suspensions parts are interchangeable ...correct?

The rear springs are 4 inches longer on the 55-56, which would relocate the rear spring mounts (I would think the rear crossmember is back 4 inches from the 53-54 also, but maybe not) other then that nothing.

I'm thinking only the 56 for the rear spring difference. Yes I belive the parts will interchange. You could always check with a parts suplier, see if they list the same part # for both years for the parts you want to use

is there a smoother ride with the longer springs? ...did ford move them for a good reason?

Generally speaking the longer the springs are (assuming they have the same number of leaves) the smoother the ride is. The shorter stubby springs are more for weight bearing than for ride comfort.
