Question Hypertech Programer

Has anyone here used the Hypertech Programer?? I just ordered a Diablo Predator from Motorhaven and it will be here on Mon. There is a Hypertech distributor here in town were I live and I was thinking about giving it a try but wanted to know what anyone else has found out about it.

Hypertech Programmer

I had the Hypertech Programmer in my 99 V-10 and was utterly impressed with the additional power and shifting capability. I traded the V10 for the 6.0 diesel and removed the programmer before the trade and I could not believe the difference in the performance of the truck. I firmly believe and support the Hypertech and once I sell the one I have for the V-10-----I will have one on the 6.0

Tim - HT is alive and well and supply a good product for the $$$. Doesn't have everything the predator or Juice/Attitude combo has but your not paying nearly as much either.

A week or so ago I posted something about the Hypertech programmer. One person responded with a post that Hypertech was junk. Today however, I talked with a local Performance shop that recommended Hypertech products. The guy said he has installed the Hypertech module on four 6.0's and thought they ran great. Said that one customer had gotten the Superchip and traded it in for the Hypertech. They both felt that the engine ran smother on the Hypertech compared to the Superchip. The performance guy liked the fact that you could shift the programer on the fly. Personally I was leaning more towards the Predator but am now considering the Hypertech. Anyone else's imput would be great.

Oh, I ordered an EGT gage today......going to do the one pod pillar mount that allows me keep my grab bar.

I was the one who posted a comment; however I did not say they were junk. I simply stated that the hypertech products did not (IMO) seem to have the same quality as the Superchips products.

The Hypertech for the 6.0 is not a programmer; it is a fuel box. The specs on it look pretty good. Maybe someone here has already purchased one and can give you some feedback on them before you make your choice.

Not on the diesels it doesn't.... no programmer changes tire size for the 6.0L, and a fueling box can't. I've yet to meet anyone who would try Superchips, Diablo and Hypertech and end up keeping the Hypertech..... except maybe a dealer who sells one.

Not sure... haven't seen any dyno charts. This is pure speculation, but I suspect their product for the 6.0L may be someone else's with their name on it.

The Hypertech is an inline device.

I don't know who makes it for them.
Edge?
Van Aiken?
Bullydog?

dunno........

I do know that it is not a flash programmer.

I appreciate your comments regarding Superchips.

Just a few comments I have to put a little spin on perspective:

Nearly everyone is going to say every product is "great" , because the stock tuning is so sloppy.

Any difference is good, and people are generall going to be happy with whatever products are available as long as they work and don't create drivability issues.

Just like anything else.....
Anything that makes an improvement is the "best" until you try something better, then what was the best isn't the best anymore...in fact, it becomes undesireable.

This is why I recommend driving vehicles with all devices installed (or better, borrow them from friends and try them all on your own vehicle), and choose what you like best for you.

Vic I like your response to psd60. I agree what works on one truck doesnt necessasarily work on another. I have the predator works good and shifts awesome. I am currently testing the new quad 125 chip, it takes longer for the quad to learn the shiifting sequence. It shifts good once it learns and tends to run cooler than the predator. I dynoed and ran both down the track with dyno numbers and track times being so close that it was a toss up of who was the best. I kinda like the switch on the fly idea, but it doesnt work well with the 6.0. once you shift on the fly it takes awhile for the xmsn to learn how to shift. That kinda make shift on the fly a moot point. You can progam another tune faster than the xmsn can learn. My truck club SLAPS (St. Louis area power strokes) is going to hold a Dyno day in september. How do I get a hold of a SCT for testing I would report back with Dyno sheets. T.I.A. Jerry.
