Why Does WENDY'S Do This?

Why Does WENDY'S Do This?

My local Wendy's gives free refills on soft drinks (as do most places). The question I have is why when I take my used cup back up do they give me a NEW cup AND lid and tell me to throw my old one out? Is this so they can keep track of how many pops they sell? Wouldn't it be easier (and better for the environment) to just punch it in the cash register they "sold" a free pop? Just wondering........

It is easier for them, because they count every cup at night. It is more foolproof to just give a new cup than to try and write down how many refills they gave.

It probably doesn't have anything to do with cup count, but as a health precaution. In MT its required to get a new cup for each refill, and a new plate everytime at a buffet line. They once shut down a church potluck because they didn't have enough plates.

That is my thought as well. It seems to be standard practice with them. Every Wendy's that I have been in does it. Now if they all could get the hamburgers exactly the same like they were supposed to, I would probably eat there more than a couple times per year.

Down here it is self service. You fill it up yourself. I quit drinking those. They rot your teeth.

Now, if we could just drive up to the speaker, pick our menu quietly, then not have our order interrupted by a person rudely cutting in and saying , "WOULD YOU LIKE TO MAKE THAT A COMBO ???? ."
Geez, if I had wanted a combo, I would have said that in my order first, the same order I was TRYING to give, just before I got cut off in mid sentence.

Yeah that crap annoys me as well. When you finish an order and get "would you like an apple pie with that?" annoys me as well. Did I ask for a pie?

When they graduate from flipping burgers they will get a job at Pep Boys, Kragens, or Autozone. The fast food biz gives them the needed skills required to not hear a word you are saying so they can ask you the year, make, model, and engine size over and over about six times, then psyche you into thinking they got everything to find out they don't know the difference between a 4.0L and a 4-cylinder.

yes, you idiot, I have a 4.0 cylinder. I wanted a 4.6 cylinder, but they didn't offer an engine that size.

i don't get those guys that work the parts counter at the store.

the guy working in plumbing knows everything. he'll take 15 minutes to explain to me how to do something and get me what i need. he's saved me a fortune on plumbers. but go over to the tools and they have the kid whose studying heavy truck mechanics. again really sharp guy really knows his stuff but they have him stocking shelves

go to the parts counter and they have this basketcase with long hair that doesn't know anything.

I agree on the plates. You wouldn't want your first plate of food you ate to mix with the second plate. It just wouldn't taste right! But, the cup idea is kinda stupid. Every other place uses your "old used" cup. Seems like a waste to me!

It may be a health code thing. Good for you and the rest of the world that they do things that may not make sense to you, but protect you from illness and protect them from a lawsuit.
