I dont have the money right now but for future reference,,, is it a fairly direct swap from a 97 f-150 4.6 to a 5.4? And what years of the 5.4 would be the best to use? And most importantly would it be worth the time and money involved to do the swap or just buy a new truck?

It's a lot of wiring...like the dash wiring/cluster and likely the chassis wiring as well as all the engine wiring.
