Extra Shock???
I have a 98' Merc Mount'eer...AWD...5.0L. I 've notice that there is an extra small shock located just in front of the rear right portion of the axle. It seems to support the axle to the frame. Anyone know what it's for? Is it the reason why the rear right side of the vehicle looks higher than the rear lleft side?....
I am planning to install either install add-a-leafs or air shocks. WHat's the best to raise her up a bit?

i dont know about the extra shock but can tell you that air shocks are not the way to go as they offer no dampening and put a constant force at their mounting points which were not designed with that purpose.also the air shocks due to their stiff nature will give you a jarring ride.some better alternatives would be springs,air bags, or a shackle flip for leaf springs. regards,shovelhead
