please help

please help

i have a 1960 ford 223 straight 6.it's not in a truck but in my boat.the problem im having is that i toke the vaule cover off and it was coverd in a white milky like substanced.i pulled the dip stick to the oil and it looked fine.please help

I know when you mix oil and water, it makes a white/grey oooze like paste. Maybe this is it? -4speed

The fact that it is just in your valve cover and not on your dipstick, makes me think it might just be condensation. This could be normal if your boat is making many short trips (heating and cooling quickly).

Please don't take my word as last word on this though. I'm curious to see what others think.

I think Kenny is right. If it isn't in the crankcase, but only in the valve cover, you might be lucky. I would clean out as much of the milkshake stuff as you can and check to see if the PCV valve is working. It could be plugged. Also check to see if the thermostat is working, if the engine can't warm up enough it could cause the moisture to build up. ...Terry
