Help!!!!!!!!!!

I need your help. I have a friend that has recently moved into a retirement home. She was widowed a few years back. Her husband left her with many neat things, one of which is an old truck. Since my knowledge is limited to 60's muscle cars, I have very little knowledge of these old trucks. I would like to do right by my friend. She needs to sell the truck.
I believe that the truck is a 1941 - 1 or 1.5 ton dump c/we dual rear wheels. My understanding is that before he died, the husband had all of the hydraulics on the truck working. The body seems to be in great shape for its age and most of the parts are still with the truck. The seat is only a frame with springs. The engine seems to be a flat-head. ( It has the small air cleaner - about 10 to 12 inches round that sits very high on the engine.) I don't know if it runs.
I will have pictures in a couple of days
By the way ... the lady still has the origional owner's manual.
Please e-mail me or continue this thread with your thoughts as to what the truck might be worth. I will email pics as soon as I have them.
I'm not looking for a million dollars but I don't want her taken advantage of either.

Thanks,

Chuck

I have always wanted and often needed a dump truck. It sounds really cool. Depending upon the condition I would think around $3,000. Look for the vin number on the driver side frame rail in front of the cab. Post it here and you can get a positive ID. You may have to scrape away years of crud to see it, because the numbers aren't stamped real deep. Mike

Thanks for the reply.
No scraping though ... she's pretty clean.
I'll take the trip & try and find the vin.

The best way to determine the market value is to sell it at auction (ebay). If you want to determine a Reserve price, search ebay "Completed Items" to find what price was brought by similar trucks.

Thanks for the info ... It seems that I have already been corrected. The truck is actually a 1949 model dump truck. I looked at the pictures of your truck ( nice truck, by the way ) and the widow's truck appears to be a bit older than yours.
