Correct me if I'm wrong guys. But when you get a new flash does'nt it update all the flashes before or should I say all the flashes available for your build date on the engine. My april 04 diesel has no other flashes because it came from the factory already flashed. Correct?????

Any opinions? what would you do in my situation? it seems like they are willing to work with me and I have mentioned some of the items that I've heard it could be but I guess it all depends on if that find and fault codes when the check tomorrow as to having any parts swapped,,, sorry for the long post , I wanted to make sure I was clear on everthing,, thanks matt
Matt, have them check for a chafed wiring harness first. There have been problems like this in the past.

Intermittent problems are most likely electrical short/ground problems or sticking sensor/valves.

Mine is an April 04 build. And I can say that this flash has not made mine worse. If anything I would say it is better. Seems as though the acceleration has improved. And the truck seems to take off better without that slight hesitation that I noticed before the flash. With my truck I would say the flash was a positive. I would say that if your happy with the performance of the truck now, dont get the flash. If your truck is'nt taking off like a rocket and seems sluggish, get the flash. I dont belive this flash will hurt anything. If your motor build is March 04 you already have all the other flashes.

That is because it fixed some issues with the electronic throttle. Your accelerator pedal just sends a signal to the computer that says the human wants to go faster.

I just got back from the dealer and of course could not find anything wrong. I had them do the Flash so will see what happens. I have another appointment for Tuesday morning for something else so it will give me a few days to see if problem is still occuring. If it is then they would like the truck for a day or 2 so they can dublicate the problem. I'll keep everyone posted and I appriciate all the help,, thanks matt

WDS update B31.11 This is for trucks built between 9/19/03 - 4/28/04 It will fix the cruise problems after a long decell.
Remember all flashes include all the flashes before it. in this case there is only one.
This flash also has inprovments for the electronic throtal control peddal. And some diagnistic improvents for us techs.

SBV45, This sounds great
My truck is at the dealers right now to try to solve the surges and stopping running at low RPMs. When I took it in to them, it sat there at the Sevice counter and was surging and bucking etc. and finally quit running. There were 3 different service personnel there witnessing all this. tech. It has been in there 4 days and nothing has been done. He said he could not get it to do it again, so he could not diagnose the cause.

I told the service tech. abiut this new flash and he said he would look into it.
When asked if he was able to reflash it with this new flash, he said there was no new flash issued since my last reflash and and to prove it, he tried to reflash it with the latest flash and it would not accept it because the truck was already flashed in February.

Don't all the dealers have the latest flashes and update corrections for use at the same time? How could other dealers have this available to them and my dealer not? I am supposed to go on vacation Monday, but I need to get a fix before I pull a boat with this thing running like it does.

Any help or information would sure be appreciated.

The TSB and WDS info should be enough for them. They can download it. Telll them to go to the Ford Tech hotline and inquire about it. Are you talking to the shop foreman and service manager? I would. Be polite but firm.

SBV45 I talked to Service Manager and Shop Foreman and gave them that info as you listed and they said they were trying to get thru to Ford on line to verify and could not get thru. They also said that if it is available it would have to be sent to them in disk form. Do these guys know what's happening?

new flash

SBV45
Thanx for your reply
I didn't make myself too clear. What I really need to know is, can the dealership download this new flash from Ford to their computor , or whatever and install it in my truck, like today or tomorrow or do they have to wait for a disc to be mailed to them?

Thanx again

Superduper,

The dealer can download it on there WDS computer. Just depends how often the dealer does their update of their system. Once it is in the FMC system all dealers have access to it through their computer system.

You can go here and see where SVB45 got the information. This site is run by Ford Techs.

Hope this helps
