Tensioner breaking after water pump change

Had the water pump replaced recently on the explorer. The next day a few hundred miles away the wife says it broke down. Had it towed to the Ford dealership where they had the replace the serpentine belt and tensioner. Serpentine belt that was on it was 1 month old.

It it coincidence that this happened the next day or is it possible that the people that replaced the water pump messed something up? They say that the tensioner had nothing to do with them replacing the water pump, but didnt they have to take the serpentine belt off to change it? And if so, didnt they have to release tension on the belt to remove?

Any ideas is greatly appreciated.
