Bogs way down when cold ?

'73 302, 4speed

When I leave to work in the morning, and I set off down the road the engine bogs way down when first put under load. This continues for a couple minutes until she warms up.

The electric choke is messed. I took it apart, cleaned and lubed it, but still no response.

My best guess is that its running too lean without the choke and the fuel isn't vaporizing because the motor is still running cool.

Is there anything else that could be the culprit ???

Also, other then advancing the spring is there any other ways to get an electric choke to work ???
