does anyone think a cat on the exhuast has any thing to do with mpg, I have noticed some trucks have them and some do not? I have done just about everything to my truck to get better mpg exept removing the cat and going to a 4'" down pipe.I have done enough modes to finally realize that what I get is what I get....light foot

seems i remember one fella getting 7-8 with his truck, dont remember exactly what it was, and some getting 24-25. some of the trucks with low m p g were reg cab 2 wheel drive, some of the high m p g trucks were like mine, cc f350 4x4.
i have a freind with a truck almost exactly like mine, he is lucky to get 12 on the highway while i get 20-21 at 75-80 m p h.

jim
How the heck are you measuring that?

Then I suggest you copy the web page to your local drive because it will probably disappear !!!!

Just cuz it's out on the web does not mean it's true or will stay there

K, many have realized improved mpg with the addition of a module/programmer IF you can keep that light foot working properly

My logic is that the programmers make it more efficient to get the HP (to a point!), so if you don't USE the HP all the time, you will get better fuealge...

and I do...

Fuel mileage sucks on my 04 6.0L 4X4. Was getting 17 mpg, but after reflash a couple of months ago, I'm averging 14mpg. Come on ford, better come out with a fix for this problem pretty soon. I never would have considered buying this truck if fuel economy wasn't any better than the 7.3L.
I make my living with my truck as well as put on a lot of miles. Not to complain would be stupid. Hell I'd complain even if I just drove my truck back and fourth to the grocery store once a week. Ford should deliver their promise on original figure on the 6.0L fuel economy.

Bikenbob: did you hit Lake Mead last weekend? I was there if you did.. stayed at the Hacienda.. Diesel prices have gone down just a bit here.. I paid 2.29 yesterday, which was cheaper than premium for the first time in a while. It sounds like you are getting about the same mileage as I am towing.. a little less than 10?

I think a lot depends on the trip and what you are pulling. I have a 03 F350 CC 4x4 LB SRW with a cab high shell 7700 road wt full tank and me in it Aug flash

I went from San Jose to Reno and back all fwy with a 7000 ft pass [I80] over the Sierras and got 19.8 for the trip [no trailer]

towing my horse trailer in the mountains I get 13.3 on the flats [fwy]14.9

city driving varies all over but mostly 14.5 to 15.8
