Need help in replacing the key ignition switch on a tilt steering column on a 1988 BII 4X4 V6 with electric shifting. How do I replace this switch?

Very simple, remove the lock cylinder & upper half of the column trim & there you are. It's in your Haynes manual.

The column trim comes of easily but somethig that may help is to try tilting the wheel away from the peice your removing to make more room. Sounds too simple but I fought it for about 10 minutes before my brain finally kicked into gear.

You're going to need a special tool to take the screws off, its a star like screw driver with a hole in the center, the screws holds the ingition assembly to the column, I just replaced mine.

Ignition switch replacement? Or ignition lock cylinder replacement? I had to replace my brothers Ignition switch on his 89 B2 which kind of sucked...because I had to pull the steering wheel off and drop down the steering column. The ignition switch is located on top of the steering column. I wish I had known I didnt have to drop the steering column though, oh well. The tool you need though, are called Torx bits or Torx screw drivers. Stupid things... I hate em.
