Currently it only has dim interior lights. The headlights will not come on and the starter will not engage. If I jump the starter relay (on inner fender next to battery) I only get it to click – nothing else. I have pulled the starter and the battery and had them both checked. Both are good.
Any ideas as to the next logical item to check? Many thanks,
I have measured the voltage of the battery at its posts at 12.8 and down at the starter connection and it too read 12.8V with my negative lead grounded to the engine block. If the cables were corroded could I get the same read at the two locations?
Did you have the headlights on when you took your volt readings? It's best to have some load on the circuits in question when trying to find a bad connection.

Yes, you could get the same amount of voltage there with 24 guage wire, but you won't get the current. Check the voltages when you try to crank the engine. You should get a significant drop, and it should be the same at all three locations.
Yes your voltage sitting still and not running could be the same at both ends. If the cables have corrosion at either end, it will provide enough resistance to not allow the AMPS from the battery to the starter. Remove and clean both ends of both cables, and clean what they are attatched to so you are assured good conductive contact.
