Question build from the ground up go cart kit?

any body know any place online or otherwise where I can get a go cart kit that has to be assmebled for fairly cheap? Assembly is an important part cause this will be a project for me and my 8 year old son to do together. He would enjoy putting it together more than driving it I think any ideas/advice would be appreciated!!!...thanks,Ben

Do a search on www.google.com for go car kits. You will be surprised with what you have to choose from.

Only personal expeience I've had is homemade from old lawn mower parts. Never bought a kit that needs to be assembled.

Hey Ben are you looking for a yard kart, off-road kart, or racing kart? I have 2 racing karts myself.

I have found there is no such thing as cheap for a go kart. The live axle, the disc brake, and all the other little things that make it go add up. Either you pay up front for a new unit or it nickel and dimes you until you have paid nearly the same price as if you had purchased a new one.

You can still cob one together though and so long as the little one is happy for a season you might do all right.

teach'em old school, build it from a old ridin mower, only build your own frame. use the parts from the rider.

I agree with Ultramagdan. I built one of my karts myself, it took me about 2 and a half monthes. I did all my own welding, cutting and bending of the tube for the frame. I made alot of my own steering too. Let me know if you wanna see a picture of the kart I built. I'll let ya know the price of the build too. Fred

Green Kart is the one I built, its not used for IKF or WKA racing. Just for racing with my friends. Black Kart is the one I bought a few years ago. They are quick If I use a 55 tooth gear on the axle I can go about 50mph with an engine without a govener. Im sure you want to keep your son to about a top speed of maybe 15 or 20. First time trying to get pictures on here, and I don't know how. Could someone give me a hand at this, Thanks Fred

they let fte members post pics , creating a gallery is pretty easy, in user cp, click on edit gallery, create an album , then page down and you'll see upload or browse, then find the pic and you should be ok.
