Which Bed

O.K. so I'm at my local boneyard and I find 2 stepside beds that are about right for my truck, but I would like to know which one is closest. I have a '59 F350, the first bed where the sides of the bed reach the 'top' of the bed flare out at 45* angles, the second bed goes straight up and bends at a 90* and gle to the top. Can anybody give a year/timeline for these beds??

Thanx.

You want the bed with the 45 Degree angled edges. THat one goes up into the late 70's I believe. In the early 80's they came back out with the flareside, but the top edge was bend at a 90 degreee angle. I could be off on the time line slightly, but anyway, you want the first one I described.

Thoth88,
I agree with Barry, and I will add that I think the last year for the angled top rail was 72. I think 73 and up had the flat top bed side.
Good Luck!

Thanx Barry and FatFORDS,

I think I am going to go with the 90degree bed as I'm planning on putting in a bed tool box. I don't think the 'closer to stock' bed will allow me to do so.

Can anybody tell me how the stock tail gate locks are supposed to work. Both beds have the original tail gates.
