Chip Install tips

I'm going to be purchasing a Diablo 2 Stage ship soon. Do any of your guys have any tips for me with the installation into my 5.4. I'm going to run high test into prior to the install, so I should only have premium fuel in it with the chip. I thought I heard someone say its easier to do with the battery removed.

sure, who did the chip? With the EECV, when you drop it, just pry off the plastic expansion cover, and take some sand paper and sand off the gunk off the terminals. Get all the stuff off, then use some rubbing alcohol and qtips to make sure the contact is good Let it all dry, then plug in your chip, and be sure to secure the chip to the EEC with some duck tape, some tuners include a sticker to hold it in place, some don't.

Ditto on cleaning the terminals, installed my and it wouldn't start, had to pull it all back out, cause the terminals weren't clean, but it was worth it. I mounted my switch in one of many holes in dashboard frame, behind the fuse access panel. You should not have to remove the battery, but you MUST disconnect the ground/negative post.

Even if it comes with the sticker, use duct tape and tape it up really good. I along with others had to take my box out and redo it because the sticker it comes with doesn't stick well if it is at all dirty.

Brian, the main issue as you have already seen is cleaning the contacts. This is the most time consuming and most crucial step to doing the job right. YES, diconnect the battery always! Never install/uninstall the chip without doing the following:

1. Take key out of ignition
2. Disconnect the battery
3. Disconnect computer harness

If you don't do this you could ruin the chip. Best thing to do is just be patient with it. Good luck!
