E40D conversion to standard
I posed this question in the diesel forum, but I thought I may as well put it in here as well. My tranny is on it's way out (halfway out the door, if not farther). I have a 93 F250 4x4 with the 7.3 liter IDI. I think I have two options here. The first being rebuild the auto tranny that is in there now. The other, see if I can pick up a ZF5 and put it in if the cost is close to the same. If the cost is close, I think I would prefer the standard. Has anyone done this conversion? Can it be done? If so, can you please give me some tips and hints on what I will need to get? Or should I just rebuild what I got and hope for the best? I intend to keep this truck for a long time and I use it for carring the camper, getting wood, and going hunting. I look forward to hearing what everyone has to say. Thanks for the help.
