"AOD" Trans Problem
Help!
My "1993" F150- "AOD" 4x4 trans just started freewheeling when it shifted to third.Next time I drove it,(5 miles later)it wouldn't upshift to second.First and reverse seem fine,for right now anyway!
I'm waiting for a service manual,for the "AOD",to arrive in the mail.Does anyone have experience with this trans?

Sounds like its time to rebuild,just stay away from Art Carr stuff mine didnt even last 7000 miles after rebuilding it with art carr parts. I spent $1300 on the parts alone. On a good note all of the local parts stores carry manuals on the AOD, but with a 1993 I believe you woud have the AODE. E standing for electronic. hope this helps jerry.

Funny you should mention the recent overhaul failure.This trans was SUPPOSED to have been overhauled about 8000 miles back.
I've heard the horror stories about the E4OD, if it wasn't totally updated during the rebuild,but nothing on the AOD.
By the way,did you do all the bushings when you were in there?
